This "modern" wire haired Dachshund comes from Germany and his appearance was strongly influenced by the wire haired British terrier eg. Sky, Scotland, Dandie.
The wire haired Dachshund is best defined by his hair: his big eyebrows and beard give him a very unique look, his color is commonly called a "wild" color, but there are red and harlequin versions, although the latter version is not permitted in Europe by the FCI. His build is of a Dachshund, this means he has short, but parallel limbs, a long, tight and well-formed torso, characterized by a relatively long neck. His eyes and nose are dark, he has drooping ears, rounded at the ends. The wire haired Dachshund is essentially an underground scrapper and above the ground flusher, these are the works he was breaded for.We shouldn’t forget about his hunting skills, he has a relatively high need for movement and walking in the forest, meadow, these are the places where we can see his true character. He is infinitely intelligent, he learns very quickly and we shouldn’t be disturbed by the fact that he doesn’t always rely on us and that he sometimes claims his own independence.
The Dachshund has his own individuality, which is why we can achieve results with consistent training, but we should be careful, because he can quickly become the boss. Even so, he can only be worshiped because he is so fun to be with. He can be a real partner even in the office, he tends to take over the couch and master it, and he loves travelling by car, and sometimes he even glows on the agility course.Because of his long backbone he should be spared of heavy physical activity, because he can easily slip his discs and he should be awarded to a regular hair care, he needs to be trimmed periodically. "Obesity is a real feature of the breed, unfortunately, and we shouldn’t fall for his puppy dog eyes, because he takes on a few pounds very quickly. The wire haired Dachshund is a good choice of breed if you really want to conclude a life-long friendship, with many happy days ahead.
