An Anglo-Arabian is is a Thoroughbred crossed with an Arabian and either parent can be a member of either breed (or another cross). However the remaining offspring must have no more than 75% and no less than 25% Arabian blood.

History

The Anglo-Arabian originates from France. The French name for a Thoroughbred horse is “Pur Sang Anglais”, the French for an Arabian horse is “Pur sang Arabe”. The translation from the French “pur sang” means pure blood. The name is derived from the combination of the two breed names to give the name “Anglais-Arabe”, which became commonly known as the Anglo-Arabe, the translation from the French is the name “Anglo-Arab”. France is one of the major producers of the Anglo-Arab breed; the Studbook Francais has records of the Anglo-Arab that date back to the early 1800s.
