Mme Hardy
One of the classic Old Roses. The blooms are not very large, of pretty cupped formation at first, later becoming flat and finally reflexing. There is the slightest hint of blush in the early stages, but later they become a pure glistening white, while at the center, a small green eye adds to the attraction. They are held in nicely-poised clusters and are fragrant, with just a hint of lemon. The growth is rather stiff and upright and so is good for mixed borders.
Hardy (who had charge of the Empress Josephine’s famous rose collection at Malmaison) named it for his wife.
