Rusty-Spotted Cat
Main Characteristics
Rusty-Spotted Cats are one of the smallest species of cat. They have a body length between 35 and 48 cms (13.8 - 19 inches), a tail length between 15 and 25 cms (6 - 10 inches) and they weigh between 1.1 and 1.6 kgs (2.4 - 3.5 lbs).
They are grey/brown in colour and they have rust coloured markings.
Habitat
Rusty-Spotted Cats are found in the scrublands and grasslands of India and the mountain forests of Sri Lanka.
Diet
Rusty-Spotted Cats mainly feed on small mammals, frogs and birds.
Breeding
After a gestation period of 67 - 71 days, Rusty-Spotted Cats give birth to a litter of 1 - 2 kittens.
