LYNX EURASIAN

Main Characteristics
The Eurasian Lynx is a medium sized cat and it is the largest of the lynxes. They have a body length between 0.8 and 1.3 m (2.5 - 4.25 ft), a tail length between 11 and 25 cms (4.25 - 10 inches) and they weigh between 8 and 38 Kgs (18 - 84 lbs).

Habitat
Eurasian Lynx are found in the forests and scrublands of northern Europe to eastern Asia. They are solitary and mainly nocturnal.

Diet
Eurasian Lynx mainly feed on deer, goats and sheep, but if food is scarce they will prey on smaller animals such as rabbits, hares, pikas, rodents and foxes.

Breeding
After a gestation period of 63 - 70 days, a litter of 1 - 4 cubs are born. They are weaned at 3 - 5 months old and become independent at 10 months old. They reach sexual maturity between 2 and 3 years of age.

Predators of the Eurasian Lynx include humans.
