Windflower
We are beginning to realise how particularly beautiful a rose this is. It bears its flowers high up on wiry stems, giving it an airy profile not unlike that of herbaceous anemones (or windflowers). The blooms commence as cupped buds and open to dainty, rather informal and slightly cupped flowers of soft lilac-pink. This is very much a rose for the border and should blend well with other plants of a sympathetic nature. This is not a showy rose but a number of discerning gardeners have said that they regard it as a most beautiful English Rose. It is remarkably disease-resistant and repeat-flowers well. Related to the Alba Roses.
There is a charming Old Rose fragrance, with hints of apple and cinnamon.
